TKA for Severe Varus Deformity

This is an 81 year old female who presented with end stage left knee arthritis and a severe varus (bow legged) deformity. She walked with a lateral thrust but had good range of motion.

She underwent complex TKA reconstruction. A medial tibial reduction osteotomy and careful medial soft tissue release was performed to balance the knee, so that only a posterior stabilized (PS) insert was necessary. A stem with hybrid fixation was used on the tibial side with a wedge augment in the medial defect.
