Minimally Invasive (Mini-Posterior) THA

This is a 70 year old female who presented with severe left hip pain and end stage arthritis.

Due to the patient’s body habitus, a mini-posterior approach was chosen. The incision size is approximately 3.5 inches long, even smaller than an anterior approach incision (contrary to popular belief!).

The patient did extremely well postoperatively and came to her two week postoperative visit without a cane. Hip precautions were removed at that time. Six months later, her right hip arthritis became symptomatic and she elected to have another mini-posterior hip replacement.
